Raploch Regeneration

Our masterplan provided a framework for a new ‘neighbourhood’ in what was previously a monolithic social housing area. It integrates residential and non-residential development, social and private, new and existing housing and provides coherent public and private urban spaces, knitting together Raploch and its immediate environment.

Due to the fragmented nature of the community within Raploch, we encouraged community and stakeholder involvement with design decisions. We organised design workshops, precedent visits, model making, presentations and artists workshops.

A new road layout now bypasses an existing trunk road (Drip Road) which bisected the masterplan area. This has allowed us to implement traffic calming and public realm improvements associated with a new community campus - designed to provide a ‘heart’ for Raploch - which brings together three existing schools on one new site with facilities for use by all the schools and the local community.
