Redhall Primary School and Nursery

This is a new Primary and Nursery School for children with complex long term additional support needs, many of whom have an Autistic Spectrum Condition.

The school accommodates 80 pupils within a layout developed in collaboration with school staff. The plan form is fragmented, curved and narrow to de-institutionalise the interior of the building  and maximize natural light.  

Consequently, classrooms and circulation areas are particularly light and bright. Classrooms have been grouped in clusters which contain shared break-out spaces and lead out onto individual, safe play yards.

An existing Millennium Woodland on the site has been augmented by new belts of planting which has created an ideal wildlife habitat.

The project also includes a separate new sports hall and an attractive dance studio for use by Redhall and the wider community.
