The West Centre

The Drumchapel Child & Family Centre brings together, in one building, the previously discrete and dispersed local health, social and voluntary services for the children, young  people and families in West Glasgow. 

Kinfauns Drive - Drumchapel’s main thoroughfare - has a fragmented quality to the built environment that generates little in the way of precedent.

The building is therefore located to provide a strong, civic street presence whilst allowing for future expansion.   

The calm and open interior is fully accessible to a wide range of building users and we worked with artists in order to reinforce parents’ and children’s impressions of a relaxed and safe place. 

They designed a feature external wall, textual pieces and an atrium screen, as well as models located within the building’s walls.
